Trading Policies

Continuous trading was launched in the Taiwan capital market on March 23, 2020

March 23, 2020 marks a milestone in the Taiwan capital market, for it's the date when Taiwan adopts continuous trading throughout the trading hours. Previously, Taiwan's market followed the call auction method with a 5-second interval.

In creating stronger market efficiency and transparency, the TWSE has amended its practices as of March 23, 2020 to have continuous trading throughout the trading hours and the call auction at the market open and close. After March 23, 2020, the TWSE offers more order types such as market orders, immediate or cancel (IOC) orders, and fill or kill (FOK) orders. This expands our range from limit orders which is currently in use.

The TWSE has launched a continuous trading simulation platform since March 25, 2019. This enable investors and brokerages sufficient time to be familiar with the new order types and the new rules of continuous trading.
