The TWSE hosted Institutional Investor Perspectives Forum with over 300 company representatives eagerly participating

To facilitate listed companies' understanding of new investment trends and institutional investors' perspectives and concerns, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) organized the "Institutional Investor Perspectives Forum" on June 3rd. The event attracted over 200 listed companies from across Taiwan, with a total of over 300 company representatives in attendance, generating enthusiastic responses.

The TWSE organized the "Institutional Investor Perspectives Forum," inviting representatives from institutions such as BlackRock, HSBC Bank, and ISS-Corporate from abroad to discuss new foreign investment trends and institutional investors' decision-making perspectives. This provided attending listed companies with insights into corporate governance, information disclosure, sustainable development, and other related topics.

Chairman Sherman Lin stated, "Considering the practical situation in Taiwan, communication between listed companies and foreign institutions is hindered by cultural, linguistic, and regulatory differences, making it difficult for foreign institutional investors to fully grasp information about listed companies. At the same time, listed companies often struggle to accurately understand the needs and expectations of institutions investors. Therefore, it is necessary for us to work together to bridge this gap and explore more efficient ways of communication and collaboration."

Director Alex Huang of the Securities and Futures Bureau, FSC remarked, "In recent years, the participation of foreign institutional investors in Taiwan's capital market has continued to increase. With global capital markets becoming increasingly interconnected, communication between listed companies and foreign institutional investors is particularly important. The FSC has been actively promoting policies to strengthen corporate governance, information disclosure, and sustainable development in recent years, aiming to raise the standards of listed companies in corporate governance structure, information transparency, and long-term value creation."

The "Institutional Investor Perspectives Forum" featured two keynote speeches. First, Belinda Boa, Head of APAC Active Investments and CIO of Emerging Markets at BlackRock, discussed "Perspectives on Sustainable Investment Strategies." Belinda Boa stated, "As a fiduciary, our role is to offer our clients choices, seek the best risk-adjusted returns within their mandates, and underpin our work with robust research, data, and analytics."

Following this, Stephen James, Managing Director of the EMEA and APAC Business at ISS-Corporate, discussed "Disclosure in the Era of Shareholder Activism." "ISS-Corporate is pleased to share with Taiwan company representatives our perspective on current ESG disclosure levels both in the market and more broadly in Asia," said Mr. James, adding that "companies should be mindful of how their disclosures align with future regulatory expectations associated with IFRS S2 to which Taiwan has committed."

The final panel discussion, themed "Taiwan in the Global Investment Landscape" moderated by TWSE Senior Executive Vice President Rebecca Chen, featured Herald van der Linde, Head of Equity Strategy, Asia Pacific at HSBC Bank, Shinbo Won, Head of Asia ex-Japan Investment Stewardship, BlackRock, and Dan Cheng, Associate Director, Head of APAC Business Development at ISS-Corporate. They delved into how institutional investors view the Taiwan market, analyzing investment philosophies and decision-making processes while also sharing in-depth insights on topics such as corporate governance, information disclosure, and sustainable development of listed Taiwanese companies.

The forum discussion not only contributes to providing valuable insights for managing investor relations in listed companies but also strengthens communication between listed companies and institutional investors. This enhances the visibility of listed companies, increases market value, and improves the chances of undiscovered hidden champions if companies manage investor relations effectively.

The TWSE has been committed to promoting market transparency and corporate governance in recent years, advancing the sustainable development of the capital market. The success of this forum further facilitates enhanced communication between listed companies and institutional investors. Looking ahead, efforts will continue to bridge the gap between listed companies and institutional investors, facilitating alignment between the two.
