The “Sustainability Report Preparation and Production Function Advocacy Meeting for TWSE and TPEx Listed Companies” received warm responses, and helped companies improve their quality of sustainability information disclosure

To enhance the ability of listed companies to prepare sustainability reports and improve the quality of information disclosure, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and the Taipei Exchange (TPEx) jointly held five sessions of the “Sustainability Report Preparation and Production Function Advocacy Meeting for TWSE and TPEx Listed Companies” in Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, and Kaohsiung starting in November 2024, and successfully concluded them on December 3. This advocacy meeting was rich in content, covering the three topics of “Requirements for Sustainability Report Preparation and Guidelines on Material Topic Disclosure,” “Sustainability Report Review Mechanism and Common Deficiencies,” and “Instructions on the Report Production Function,” and attracted more than 1,000 representatives from TWSE and TPEx listed companies to participate. The on-site responses received were enthusiastic.

The TWSE stated that in line with the “Sustainable Development Action Plans for TWSE and TPEx Listed Companies (2023)” released by the Financial Supervisory Commission that requires all TWSE and TPEx listed companies to produce and file sustainability reports from next year (2025) onward, the organizers of the meeting specially invited James Lu and Jasmine Wang, vice presidents of Deloitte & Touche Risk Management Advisory Co., Ltd., to explain the current regulations on sustainability report preparation; they also analyzed in depth how to clearly and effectively judge the major topics of corporate sustainability under the framework of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, in order to lead enterprises to take the first step in high-quality disclosure of sustainability information.

In this advocacy meeting, the TWSE representative also explained the mechanism for reviewing sustainability reports, and shared the results of report reviews and common deficiencies in the past two years from a practical perspective. In addition, to reduce the burden on companies in sustainability report preparation, the TWSE plans to add an “Auxiliary Sustainability Report Production Function” to the ESG Digital Platform in 2025, and provide reference resources such as “Guidelines for the Preparation of Material Topics in Sustainability Reports” and “Examples of Disclosure of Material Topics in Sustainability Reports” to enhance the efficiency of sustainability report preparation. Furthermore, the TWSE representative provided explanations on the upcoming auxiliary production function, and led the company representatives to practice on the test platform to familiarize themselves with the relevant processes and functional interfaces in advance, so as to ensure that the companies can get started smoothly in the future.

The courses of this advocacy meeting have been fully recorded and posted under the “Corporate Governance Advocacy” section of the TWSE’s WebPro website, and the “Advocacy Zone” section of the “IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards Platform” for TWSE and TPEx listed companies to watch. The TWSE will uphold its mission of promoting the sustainability transformation of the capital market, and work together with enterprises to build a more resilient and competitive ESG ecosystem, in order to enhance the sustainability influence of Taiwanese companies in the international market.
