TWSE partners with S&P Global to host sustainable decision-making seminar with a global perspective

The Taiwan Stock Exchange and S&P Global jointly held the Global Sustainability Decision-Making Seminar on June 11, 2026. The seminar brought together corporate leaders, board members, chief sustainability officers, corporate governance officers, and other key decision-makers to discuss major topics including global sustainability trends, ESG assessment perspectives in capital markets, climate risk management, and supply chain resilience. The event aimed to help companies stay abreast of developments in international capital markets, enhance their sustainability decision-making capabilities, and strengthen long-term corporate value.

The TWSE stated that the global economic and capital market environment has continued to evolve in recent years. Geopolitical risks have intensified, supply chains have undergone accelerated restructuring, and the development of artificial intelligence has driven significant growth in demand for energy and infrastructure. At the same time, policies and regulatory frameworks relating to net-zero transition, corporate sustainability disclosure, supply chain due diligence, and carbon border adjustment mechanisms have continued to advance across jurisdictions. International investors are also placing increasing emphasis on companies’ ability to manage risks associated with climate change, biodiversity, and natural capital. Sustainability is no longer merely a compliance issue; it has gradually become a core element of corporate strategy, capital allocation, risk management, and long-term value creation.

The seminar featured three keynote presentations. The first presentation was delivered by S&P Global Director Pak Wing Chung, titled “Decoding Sustainable Value: Driving Corporate ESG Impact and Investor Communication from a Capital Market Perspective.” The presentation explained the connection between ESG and capital markets from the perspectives of international investors as well as assessment institutions, and shared how companies can strengthen market trust and investor engagement through sustainability strategies, information disclosure, and effective communication.

The second keynote presentation was delivered by Rick Lord, titled “Addressing Supply Chain Challenges: Managing Physical Climate Risks and Building Sustainability Resilience.” The presentation shared the latest perspectives on international climate risk assessment, sustainability data methodologies, and supply chain resilience. It helped participating companies understand how, amid global supply chain restructuring combined with rising risks from extreme weather events, companies should identify physical climate risks and incorporate relevant assessments into operational management and long-term strategic planning.

Finally, Chao-En Hsieh, Executive Vice President of the Taiwan Stock Exchange, introduced the “Corporate Power Up Plan.” To assist listed companies in strengthening corporate governance, enhancing information transparency, and deepening market communication from an investor perspective, the TWSE has promoted this Plan since 2024. The initiative encourages companies to demonstrate long-term value and sustainable competitiveness through more comprehensive strategic disclosure and communication mechanisms. Corporate value is reflected not only in current profitability, but also in a company’s ability to respond to future challenges, as well as its strategy and execution capabilities for continuously creating long-term value. The TWSE will continue to assist listed companies in moving from responding to external requirements toward proactively creating value, effectively addressing the expectations of international investors, and strengthening global competitiveness. We aim to jointly advance Taiwan’s capital market toward greater resilience and sustainable competitiveness.

This seminar also served as an important extension of the Corporate Power Up Plan. Looking ahead, the TWSE will continue to plan relevant courses and exchange activities to help corporate decision-makers grasp key trends in global capital markets and sustainability development, further enhance corporate value, strengthen sustainable risk management capabilities, and improve the quality of capital market communication.
