Cathay sustainable finance and climate change summit marks a milestone, with TWSE and Cathay advancing sustainable innovation and resilient development
Co-organized by the Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (the TWSE) and Cathay Financial Holdings, the 2026 Cathay Sustainable Finance and Climate Change Summit was held on July 1. Marking its 10th anniversary, this year’s Summit was themed “Sustainable Innovation and Resilient Development,” focusing on key global issues including sustainable innovation, energy transition, nature and biodiversity, artificial intelligence, and digital development. The event brought together representatives from government, industry, and academia in Taiwan as well as abroad for in-depth exchanges. Held both in person and online, the Summit attracted approximately 5,800 participants to explore how sustainable finance can support innovation alongside transformation, and contribute to a more resilient plus sustainable future.
Sherman Lin, Chairman of the TWSE, delivered a keynote speech entitled “Taiwan Innovation Board: Exploring Capital Market Pathways for Sustainable Innovation.” In his remarks, Chairman Lin shared how Taiwan has built a capital market with international competitiveness and resilience by leveraging its comprehensive semiconductor and AI industry clusters, abundant capital momentum, and sound governance foundation. These strengths have also supported the total market capitalization of listed companies in Taiwan, which reached NT$150 trillion as of the end of June this year. Looking ahead, Taiwan will continue to maximize its momentum in technological innovation and excellence in governance, expand its leading advantages in the semiconductor and AI industries, empower a wide range of sectors, support the growth of innovative enterprises, and build a mutually thriving “mountain-range ecosystem” to further strengthen Taiwan’s overall industrial competitiveness.
Chairman Lin further noted that the Taiwan Innovation Board serves as a key hub for driving sustainable transformation. It is not only a fundraising platform for enterprises, but also an important bridge connecting innovative technologies, industrial development, and the capital market. The TWSE will continue to provide comprehensive services from listing to sustainable growth, including customized ESG and investor relations guidance, international capital-raising support, in addition to carbon credit trading resources. Through these efforts, the TWSE aims to help enterprises develop the DNA needed to align with international sustainability standards and become creators of sustainable value.
Since 2020, the TWSE has partnered with Cathay Financial Holdings to jointly organize the Cathay Sustainable Finance and Climate Change Summit, continuously building a platform for sustainable finance exchanges and promoting sustainable transformation across the public, private, and academic sectors. Looking ahead, the TWSE forges ahead to drive sustainability through innovation in tandem with leveraging the capital market’s functions of integration and guidance. Through the Taiwan Innovation Board, the TWSE will connect technology, capital, and industry, support the growth of innovative enterprises, completed with building a capital market ecosystem characterized by innovation, resilience, and sustainability. Together, these efforts will help realize the vision of becoming the “Nasdaq of Asia” to advance new momentum into Taiwan’s innovation development and industrial upgrading.
