TWSE’s briefing sessions on Taiwan’s Green Stock Designations System conclude with great success

To help listed companies smoothly align with green finance policy and jointly forge a new milestone in the sustainable development of Taiwan's capital market, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and the Taipei Exchange (TPEx) successfully held online and in-person briefing sessions on Taiwan's Green Stock Designations System in July 2026, drawing more than 500 sustainability officers from listed and OTC-listed companies. The sessions focused on the practical implementation of the system, aiming to help companies master the criteria for determining green revenue and the essentials of information disclosure, thereby enhancing market recognition of corporate sustainability performance.

The TWSE stated that, in line with the Financial Supervisory Commission's “Green and Transition Finance Action Plan” and to encourage companies to continue moving toward low-carbon and sustainable operations, the Green Stock Designations System officially took effect this year. The system applies to all listed and OTC-listed companies in Taiwan (financial and insurance companies are not yet included); companies whose disclosed annual green revenue meets the relevant criteria will be awarded a Level 1 or Level 2 Green Stock Designation. The system not only helps direct market capital precisely toward green enterprises and serves as an important reference for financial institutions' credit assessments, but also counts as a bonus item in the 2026 ESG Evaluation, helping to enhance companies' brand image and sustainability value.

The TWSE further noted that the sessions centered on helping companies translate the system's regulatory requirements into concrete practical operations. Experts and scholars from National Taipei University were specially invited to provide in-depth analysis of the criteria for determining green revenue, the specific calculation formulas, and the application of the EU Taxonomy, and to offer detailed guidance on companies' frequently asked questions to help them address common challenges. The experts also specifically analyzed the existing advantages held by high-quality companies that have already obtained Green Factory, Clean Production Evaluation, or related green-label product certifications when participating in the Green Stock Designations, helping such companies further leverage their existing sustainability investments.

For the benefit of those who were unable to attend the full sessions or who wish to review the course content, the related videos and course materials have been posted on the Green Stock Information Platform (https://eco-fin.tpex.org.tw/ESGGreenStockDesignations), under the path: Green Stock Information Platform > Green Stock Designations > Briefing Videos. Going forward, the TWSE will continue to build a transparent and standardized designation mechanism, remaining a key driver of sustainable transformation for listed and OTC-listed companies, and working together with businesses to build a sustainable capital market.
