2026 GHG inventory workshops expand to support corporate carbon management and IFRS sustainability alignment
To help listed companies improve their greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, carbon management, and sustainability disclosures, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), Taipei Exchange (TPEx), Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX), and the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC) have jointly organized the Greenhouse Gas Inventory Practical Workshops since 2024. The program continues to receive strong participation and positive industry feedback.
Building on the general and semiconductor-focused courses held in the first half of 2026, the organizers will offer six workshops in Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, and Kaohsiung during the second half of the year. One will be a general course, while the other five will focus on specific industries. The curriculum will cover electronics; chemicals, biotechnology, and healthcare; steel and cement; as well as building materials and construction. Through case studies, practitioner insights, plus hands-on exercises, participants will gain practical skills for improving inventory efficiency and the quality of sustainability disclosures.
The workshop series will begin on July 21. To support companies in adopting the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards and advancing their net-zero transition, the program will focus on two core themes: the Green Securities Certification System and Scope 3 GHG Inventory Practices. It will highlight the GHG Protocol methodology required by IFRS S2, guide companies through transitioning from ISO 14064-1:2018 to the GHG Protocol, and outline strategies for supply chain decarbonization. Ultimately, these sessions provide practical pathways for aligning with international standards, strengthening data governance, and utilizing inventory data to set realistic emission-reduction targets.
The TWSE noted that, as Taiwan’s sustainability disclosure framework progressively aligns with the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, companies need more than sound GHG inventory procedures. They also need clear governance, controls, and disclosure processes for climate-related information, with climate risks and opportunities incorporated into operations and decision-making. The TWSE will continue to provide training, practical guidance, plus digital resources to help companies improve sustainability management, build climate resilience, and remain internationally competitive. These efforts will support the sustainable development of Taiwan’s capital market.
To maximize the reach of these educational resources, selected highlights from the courses will be transformed into video modules. These materials will be hosted publicly on both the TWSE ESG InfoHub and the TPEx IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Alignment platform. Listed companies can access these training videos at their convenience to refine their carbon accounting practices and elevate the standard of their corporate disclosures.
