TWSE – A More Diversified and Attractive ETF Market
This year, a more diverse range of ETFs with different types and tracking various countries have been introduced on the TWSE. ETFs track US government bonds, US dollar index, Japanese Yen index, and REITs have finally rolled out, providing multiple asset allocation choices to Taiwan’s investors. The domestic ETFs have also broadened to include CG, blue chip, low VAR and high dividend, etc. The TWSE has greatly expanded its ETF product line to include 95 ETFs as the end of October 2017, with more than 300 billion NTD in AUM.

The capitalization of ETFs on the TWSE has gradually increased since 2013. By the end of September 2017, there are 94 ETFs listed on the TWSE with total AUM of 317 billion NTD.
- Trading Volume
The trading value of TWSE ETFs increased significantly in 2015, following the issuance of the leverage and inverse ETFs. The ETF trading value accounted for nearly 10% of the total market at the end of 2016. As of the end of September 2017, it accounts for 4.84%.
