TWSE signs a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding with JPX and KRX

Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE), Japan Exchange Group, Inc. (JPX), and Korea Exchange (KRX) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on March 15.

Under the MOU, the three exchanges will build a closer relationship through information sharing in areas of mutual interest and assist each other in market development in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. The three exchanges have a framework for cooperation and collaboration through personnel exchanges and joint market promotion.

Mr. Jan-yau Hsu, Chairman of TWSE, said, “The Taiwan Stock Exchange has long-term relationships with JPX and KRX. We are excited to extend the cooperation to a trilateral aspect. We look forward to collaborating together to further strengthen our connection, to increase our visibility in Asia Pacific and to provide top notch investment opportunities to investors."

The TWSE and KRX announced the cross listing of ETFs tracking each other’s benchmark indices (KOSPI 200 and TAIEX) in 2016. Last year, they launched the Korea-Taiwan IT Premier index, a cross-border IT index that targets to become one of Asia’s foremost representative indices. The ETF that tracking IT Premier index is on the way and will give global investors more opportunities to participate in IT sector in both countries.

It also brings fruitful results after long term cooperation between the TWSE and JPX. Currently, there are seven ETFs that track the Japanese indexes listed on TWSE. The TWSE also licensed the TAIEX index to the Osaka Stock Exchange to issue futures. Seizing this signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding in Tokyo, the TWSE also participated in the "IR Festa 2018" hosted by JPX, the first joint marketing event after signing the MOU. The TWSE is expected to develop multilateral relations with more international exchanges and provide more services and products to fulfill investors’ needs.
