TWSE aims to further refine online investment forums
Although overseas trips and large gatherings are restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) took immediate action and transformed on-site roadshows to be held online, to maintain continual liaison between listed companies and investors. Since the beginning of the year, three online investment forums have been held in cooperation with QIC, SinoPac Securities, and MasterLink Securities. Given the lack of face-to-face meetings, these online events have struck a responsive chord with overseas investors, to protect the well-being of all participants.
Compared with on-site investment forums in the past, an online event is characterized by flexibility in terms of region, scale, cost and time. Because of the low cost and short lead time, listed companies and investors are more willing to participate. Also, global investors can join in from any region, no longer subject to physical presence. Therefore, the number of participants and one-on-one meetings can be further expanded. In addition, the length and the time of the event are also flexible, which can be adjusted according to the actual time zone. Parts of the sessions were also recorded and placed on the Webpro3.0 website “投資臺灣InvestTW”, on which investors can watch various briefings at any time. The footage has uploaded to https://webpro.twse.com.tw/webportal/vod/117/.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, various new digital transformations have been launched, thanks to the introduction of new technologies such as videoconferencing software. In the second half of the year, conditions permitting, the TWSE will resume on-site investment forums, as overseas investors and listed companies still prefer to have in-person meetings. With constantly refined and improved services, the TWSE will closely monitor technology advances and select the best option. Online investment forums are absolutely bound to become a new normal option, and are expected to attract more funds to the Taiwan stock market and enhance the momentum of economic growth.
