2025 CDP Taiwan launch successfully concluded: TWSE leads corporate sustainability disclosure toward global alignment
As global climate change intensifies, corporate disclosure of environmental risks and response strategies has become a key focus in international capital markets. On June 10, 2025, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), in collaboration with CDP—the world’s largest environmental disclosure organization—and its Taiwan partner BCSD Taiwan, jointly hosted the 2025 CDP Taiwan Launch. The event attracted over 350 participants, including board directors, corporate governance officers, and sustainability practitioners, receiving an enthusiastic response.
TWSE Chairman Sherman Lin attended the event to deliver opening remarks and present awards to top-performing companies. This year, 32 Taiwanese companies received an “A” score on the CDP Climate Change Questionnaire, a significant increase from 18 last year, demonstrating strong transparency and best practices in environmental management and carbon reduction strategies. In addition to climate change, the number of companies receiving an “A” in water security rose from 10 to 15. Notably, for the first time, a Taiwanese company achieved an “A” in the Forests Questionnaire, highlighting local firms’ active engagement with global sustainability trends.
In his speech, Chairman Lin emphasized that climate change is a global concern, and Taiwan has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. TWSE aims to support companies in strengthening their climate risk management and greenhouse gas inventory capabilities through collaboration with CDP and BCSD Taiwan, promoting systematic and internationalized environmental disclosure. It is worth noting that CDP revised its questionnaire framework starting in 2024 to align with the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, specifically IFRS S2. This alignment helps companies prepare for the upcoming sustainability disclosure regulations as they respond to CDP.
The event featured keynote speaker Dennis Wan, CDP's Head of Capital Markets for the Asia-Pacific region, along with several industry representatives. Dennis shared the latest insights and data from CDP’s global research, offering companies a comprehensive view of environmental trends and tools for self-assessment. Additionally, corporate representatives shared case studies on decarbonization challenges, board-level oversight, and sustainability transitions in hard-to-abate sectors. These discussions enabled participants to better understand forward-looking ESG topics.
As a key platform in the capital market, TWSE aligns with government sustainability policies, bringing together stakeholders to build a robust ESG ecosystem. TWSE is committed to walking alongside businesses on their sustainability journey toward a resilient future. A promotional video of the event will be made available in the “Corporate Governance Promotion” section of the TWSE WebPro 3.0 Multimedia Portal, providing broader access for companies.
