Taiwan Stock Exchange partners with Taiwan Corporate Governance Association to promote cybersecurity and sustainability governance capabilities

To assist enterprises in strengthening risk governance and enhancing sustainable value, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and the Taiwan Corporate Governance Association jointly held the “Greenhouse Gas Management Practical Workshop and Sustainability Development Promotion Conference” on July 15 and 16. The event attracted numerous corporate representatives, creating a lively atmosphere that demonstrated businesses’ strong emphasis on cybersecurity risks and ESG governance.

In her remarks, Ms. Edith Lee, President of the Taiwan Stock Exchange, stated that strengthening corporate risk governance, advancing sustainable development, and enhancing corporate value are the latest challenges facing listed companies. This promotional event focused on three key themes: “AI-driven Cybersecurity Governance,” “Recent ESG Initiatives,” and “Corporate Sustainability Performance Management.” The topics covered areas such as cybersecurity protection, sustainability information disclosure, and innovative strategies, integrating both theoretical and practical perspectives with the aim of guiding enterprises to establish more comprehensive and forward-looking sustainability development strategies. Mr. Chu Chu-Yuan, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Corporate Governance Association, expressed his appreciation for the TWSE’s continued collaboration with various stakeholders since 2022 in conducting ESG talent development initiatives. Through partnerships with universities and NGOs such as the Chinese Corporate Governance Association, the TWSE has organized ESG workshops and promotional events. It is hoped that ESG will become a competitive edge for Taiwanese enterprises on the global stage.

The first keynote session featured Wu Ming-Wei, founder of CyCraft Technology, who shared practical experiences in “AI-driven Cybersecurity Governance.” He explored how artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies can be applied to build digital defense systems, enhance cybersecurity early warning and response capabilities, and help enterprises maintain operational stability in a highly digitalized environment.

The second keynote session was delivered by Hsieh Chao-En, Deputy Manager of the Corporate Governance Department at the TWSE, who introduced the “Sustainable Development Action Plans” and the latest ESG promotion measures. These include encouraging TWSE/TPEx Listed Companies to raise base-level employee wages, disclose more comprehensive financial and operational information, and establish a “Corporate Value Enhancement Program Zone.” These initiatives can strengthen companies’ long-term value creation capabilities and align with international trends in sustainable governance.

The final session featured Professor Wu An-Ni from the Department of Accounting at National Chengchi University, who delivered a talk on “Corporate Sustainability Performance Management.” She presented a measurable and trackable sustainability performance evaluation framework and explained how companies can integrate ESG goals into their operational metrics and daily management, making sustainability a core driver of innovation and competitiveness.

The TWSE stated that the event aims to strengthen enterprises’ understanding and practical capabilities in addressing cybersecurity and sustainability issues. Follow-up sessions will be held in Taichung on July 21 and 22, and in Kaohsiung on August 28 and 29. Companies are encouraged to seize the opportunity to register and participate. Looking ahead, the TWSE will continue to support businesses through professional training programs and resource platforms, helping them enhance governance capabilities and resilience, and jointly move toward a more inclusive and sustainable capital market.
