Taiwan Stock Exchange Commits to the 2025 WFE “Ring the Bell for Climate” Initiative, Advancing Natural Carbon Sinks and Strengthening GHG Professional Certification

As a pioneer in sustainability transition for the financial market, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) once again participates in the World Federation of Exchanges (WFE)’s “Ring the Bell for Climate” initiative to demonstrate the commitment of Taiwan’s capital market to global climate action. In response to the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), the WFE calls on exchanges worldwide to play a central role in guiding markets toward climate action initiative. Through this initiative, the TWSE showcases to the international community Taiwan’s tangible progress toward net-zero development.

In alignment with the WFE’s initiative, TWSE’s 2025 efforts focus on two key areas: supporting Taiwan’s natural carbon sink ecosystem and enhancing corporate sustainability governance capacity. On the first area of development, the Taiwan Carbon Solution Exchange (TCX) and the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture (TFRI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 29. This collaboration will accelerate the development of natural carbon sink projects, strengthen capacity building, and support industry implementation.

Furthermore, the TWSE and TCX jointly organized the ISO 14067 and ISO 14068-1 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Professional Certification Training Courses in Taipei and Kaohsiung on October 20 to 23 and November 17 to 21. These courses aim to cultivate GHG management professionals, equip companies with the latest international decarbonization trends and standards, and support their carbon-neutrality objectives, thereby strengthening Taiwan’s contribution to global climate action.

COP30, held this year in Belém, Brazil, focuses on strengthening global mitigation targets and developing adaptation support mechanisms. Responding to the global net-zero momentum, the TWSE will continue to expand sustainability transition initiatives and GHG capacity-building programs to help companies enhance resilience and competitiveness. The TWSE will also deepen collaboration with the TCX and relevant institutions to strengthen Taiwan’s sustainable ecosystem, fostering low-carbon and nature-positive actions across industries. Together, these efforts will support Taiwan’s transition toward the 2050 net-zero goal.
