TWSE strengthens ESG ecosystem as 61 Taiwanese firms earn CDP A-list honors

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global authority on environmental information disclosure, has reached its 25th anniversary. On April 10, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) collaborated with CDP and its official local partner, the Business Council for Sustainable Development (BCSD) Taiwan, to host the 2026 CDP Taiwan Presentation for the third consecutive year. This event attracted more than 400 corporate decision-makers and sustainability practitioners, who gathered to witness the remarkable growth and progress made by Taiwanese companies in climate governance and environmental information disclosure.

As global climate risks intensify, environmental information disclosure has become a core indicator for international capital markets to assess corporate resilience, with 640 investment institutions managing USD $127 trillion in assets currently referencing CDP data. According to the latest evaluation results, the performance of Taiwanese companies in environmental management has reached a new peak. The number of companies receiving the Leadership A-List rating has surged from 20 in 2023 and 39 in 2024 to 61 companies today, achieving a threefold growth within two years. Notably, there has been significant growth in the number of companies receiving Double A leadership ratings in both climate change and water security or forest issues, demonstrating that Taiwan’s benchmark enterprises have evolved from single-dimension carbon management to comprehensive environmental resource governance, showing greater depth of resilience and transparency in international capital markets.

TWSE Chairman Sherman Lin noted in his speech that this achievement symbolizes that Taiwanese enterprises have progressed from simple information disclosure to management practices with substantive leadership. He emphasized that by actively engaging with international trends in climate change, water security, and forest protection, these companies are sending a clear signal of sustainable resilience to global investment institutions.

The TWSE has long been committed to enhancing the climate governance capabilities of listed companies. To assist enterprises in successfully aligning with the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, the TWSE joined forces with CDP and BCSD Taiwan late last year to release the CDP–IFRS S2 Correspondence and Key Questions Analysis Report to help companies systematically align with disclosure requirements. Furthermore, the TWSE continues to conduct multiple physical promotion courses across northern, central, and southern Taiwan, providing practical seminars on CDP questionnaire content, greenhouse gas inventories, and Scope 3 calculations to transform counseling resources into international competitive advantages for enterprises.

Looking ahead, the TWSE will continue to promote the ESG Ecosystem by integrating capital market stakeholders and digital tool resources to help companies internalize sustainable operations as a core competency. By strengthening climate information disclosure, the TWSE aims not only to enhance market confidence but also to lead industries toward net-zero and sustainability, seizing opportunities in a changing global landscape. Highlights of the event will subsequently be placed in the TWSE WebPro—Corporate Governance section for public viewing.
