Sustainability report seminar draws strong participation, advancing corporate disclosure and market transition

To strengthen listed companies’ capabilities in preparing sustainability reports and improving the quality of sustainability information disclosure, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), in collaboration with the Taipei Exchange (TPEx), jointly held the “Sustainability Report Advocacy Seminar for TWSE- and TPEx-Listed Companies” on May 27, 2026. For the first time, the event was also livestreamed online, attracting representatives from 280 listed companies in person and nearly 1,500 online viewers, demonstrating the high level of corporate attention to sustainability development and information disclosure.

The TWSE noted that this seminar focused on several key topics, including sustainability information disclosure regulations, sustainability report review results, enhancements to the ESG Digital Platform, and the newly launched Green Stock Designation system. To help listed companies successfully align with the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, the TWSE representatives provided a comprehensive overview of the relevant regulations and key requirements for sustainability-related sections in annual reports. They also introduced practical implementation steps, along with relevant reference resources and tools, to help companies better understand disclosure requirements and execution directions. In addition, to further improve the quality of sustainability information disclosure, the seminar also presented the review results of 2024 sustainability reports and summarized common deficiencies and suggestions for improvement. These review reports have been uploaded to the Corporate Governance Center website as important reference materials for listed companies in preparing their reports, helping them enhance the completeness and consistency of their disclosures.

Furthermore, to enhance the digital search and use of sustainability information, the ESG Digital Platform launched a new “AI ESG Indicator Extraction” service this year. Through AI technology, the service proactively extracts relevant sustainability information from the annual reports of TWSE- and TPEx-listed companies, helping improve filing efficiency while reducing the operational burden on companies. The sustainability report generation function, which has been well received since its earlier launch, has also been further augmented this year with upgraded editing features to provide companies with more convenient user experience. For the search and use of sustainability information, the TWSE’s ESG InfoHub offers a visualized ESG dashboard that enables cross-company and cross-industry comparisons, together with resources such as sustainability report examples and related courses. It provides the market with a more timely and user-friendly information platform, helping companies strengthen sustainability disclosure and market communication, while also optimizing investors’ ability to understand and compare corporate sustainability performance, thereby improving the accessibility and transparency of sustainability information in the capital market.

In addition, the Green Stock Designation system, officially launched this year, was introduced by TPEx representatives, who explained the framework of the system, the standards for identifying green revenue, and the application procedures. Taiwan’s Green Stock Designation system is based on the Green Equity Principles issued by the World Federation of Exchanges. TWSE- and TPEx-listed companies that meet certain green revenue thresholds will be awarded the designation in recognition of their environmental contributions. In addition to helping channel capital toward green industries, this system can also serve as a reference for financial institutions in their credit assessments, thereby strengthening the sustainability information disclosure mechanism of the capital market.

The entire seminar was recorded and will be made available in the Corporate Governance Advocacy section of the TWSE WebPro video platform and under the advocacy section of the “IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards Alignment” website for public viewing. Looking ahead, the TWSE will continue to uphold its mission of promoting the sustainable transformation of the capital market and work closely with the competent authorities and relevant institutions to assist listed companies in deepening their sustainability practices, while jointly enhancing the international sustainability competitiveness of Taiwan’s capital market.
