TWSE launches global campaign to attract investors - First stop: Hong Kong with Goldman Sachs

The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) and Goldman Sachs have joined forces twice in recent months.  December saw strong showings at the 2018 Investor Relations Summit and January of 2019 held Taiwan Investment Seminars in Hong Kong on January 8 and 9. More than 70 HK-based local institutions met with the delegation which included seven promising TWSE-listed companies that showcased the potential awaiting in Taiwan's stock market.

Investor Relations has taken on increasing importance and this gave rise to the Summit being cohosted by the TWSE with Goldman Sachs at the end of last year. Domestic and institutional investors want stronger communication with listed companies to enhance interaction. The TWSE wants to enable this discourse between TWSE-listed companies and external parties, and thus invited seven listed companies to go to Hong Kong and meet face-to-face with institutional investors.

In an increasingly globally competitive environment where capital can be moved at the touch of a button, it is crucial that listed companies have increasingly higher standards in "disclosure, investor relations, and corporate governance". This is especially true in having transparent lines of communications with stakeholders, particularly long-term investors. The seminar design emphasized this theme and was furthermore created to use practical experience to showcase the value of listed companies in Taiwan’s capital market and increase international exposure.

To synergize momentum in Taiwan's capital markets, the TWSE will continue its plans to visit global financial hubs and promising emerging markets. Equal emphasis is assigned to local campaigns in Taiwan whose objective is to bring active as well as passive institutional investors to engage with TWSE-listed companies. Hong Kong was the first stop and other trips will follow, all of which feature the benefits of investing in Taiwan to international investors on a long-term basis.
