Board Functions Enhancement Seminars will start on November 1, 2019

The TWSE said that the “Corporate Governance Roadmap (2018~2020)”, introduced by the Financial Supervisory Commission in 2018, puts the enhancement of board functions as one of the key action plans to enable directors and supervisors in listed companies to effectively support  their responsibilities. From November 1 to 21, 2019, a total of three sessions of the “Board Functions Enhancement Seminars” will be held in Kaohsiung and Taipei.

To respond to the emphasis on Intellectual Property Rights (“IPR”) issues around the world and understand significant matters with respect to the IPR protection, management and application faced by listed companies. The Science & Technology Law Institute has been invited to the seminars to discuss IPR cases and issues to enhance understanding. The Securities and Futures Investors Protection Center will also give their insight on the Securities and Exchange Act, other regulations and cases, such as civil and criminal responsibilities of financial statement fraud, and the responsibilities and obligations of directors and supervisors. The TWSE will address the key measures of the “Corporate Governance Roadmap (2018~2020),” expecting to augment the directors' and supervisors' understanding of the regulations and global trends of corporate governance.

According to the TWSE, the advancement of directors' roles is the core of a company's operations. Facing an ever changing environment, a company's board and independent directors must take a more proactive approach in terms of supervision and consultation to solve various corporate strategic issues. Through the continuous learning of the latest regulations and global trends, a board can improve its functions and corporate governance. The TWSE will advocate the directors and supervisors of all listed companies to register for the TWSE official event at https://act.twse.com.tw/R1080923/.
