About the TWSE

The TWSE 2021 Sustainability Report released

To strengthen the information disclosure for sustainable development of listed companies, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (the “TWSE”) amended the “Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation Rules Governing the Preparation and Filing of Sustainability Reports by TWSE Listed Companies” on Sep 22, 2022. This mandates listed companies that reach a certain size in 2023 are to prepare and file their 2022 Sustainability Reports in accordance with Global Reporting Initiatives Standards (“GRI Standards”), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (the “SASB”) and Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (the “TCFD”).

 

The TWSE has published its annual Corporate Social Responsibility Report (“CSR Report”) for the year 2018~2020. To enhance the quality of information disclosure for sustainable development, the TWSE compiled the “2021 Sustainability Report” in 2022. To set an example to listed companies, the TWSE took the lead to make the report being prepared not only in accordance with the GRI Standards, but also conforming to SASB and the reporting framework by the TCFD. Moreover, it has been assured by the certified public accountant (CPA).

 

In this report, the TWSE disclosed five sustainability strategies for the first time, which includes “Our Approach to Sustainability,” ”Respond to Sustainability Initiatives,” ”Promote International Cooperation,” “Stability of the Securities Market” and “Innovative Instruments and Mechanisms.” To proactively connect the TWSE’s sustainable development strategies with international trends, the TWSE focused on six Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) of the UN, which includes “Partnership for the Goals,” “Climate Action,” “Responsible Consumption and Production,” “Reduced Inequalities,” “Decent Work and Economic Growth” and “Gender Equality.” The TWSE will continue to devote itself to deepen all the sustainable development goals.

 

This Report presents the performance of the TWSE and its three subsidiaries, including the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (the “TDCC”), Taiwan Certificate Authority Corporation (the “TWCA”), and Taiwan Index Plus Corporation (“TIP”).
