Market & ETP Overview

TAIEX will include TIB companies starting from May 2

Since the establishment of the Taiwan Innovation Board (TIB) in July 2021, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (the TWSE) has collected feedback. The TWSE has relaxed the listing criteria on market cap and operating revenue, plus shortened the time transfer to the main board to pave the way for a more favorable path for startups in the capital market.

In August of 2022, PlayNitride Inc. (6854), a company focused on Micro-LED innovative display technology related applications, was the first listed company. HD Renewable Energy Co., Ltd. (6873), also known as the “Uber in the energy industry,” and J&V Technology Co., Ltd. (6859), the so-called “Berkshire in the green energy industry,” were subsequently listed this year, while Tigerair Taiwan Co., Ltd. (6757) and Gogolook Co., Ltd. (6902) also became part of the TIB family, the size of which is expected to grow in the coming years.

With the increasing number of companies applying for TIB listing and its continuing expansion, the TWSE will include TIB-listed companies in the TAIEX (The Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Stock Index) and its Index Series constituents starting from May 2 this year.

It could more fully illustrate the stock price trend, expand the TAIEX market value and its Index Series and augment the exposure of TIB-listed companies, all of which are advantageous to the synergization of TIB trading momentum. Furthermore, corporate value and the competitive merits of listed companies can be enhanced, having the advantage of new economy companies entering the market and enriching the Taiwan stock investment portfolio.
