Empowering TWSE- and TPEx-listed companies to strengthen their carbon inventory capabilities: GHG inventory practical workshops successfully held
To assist TWSE- and TPEx-listed companies in strengthening their greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and carbon management capabilities and accelerating their transition toward net zero, the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), together with the Taipei Exchange (TPEx), the Taiwan Futures Exchange (TAIFEX), and the Taiwan Depository & Clearing Corporation (TDCC), jointly held the "Greenhouse Gas Inventory Practical Workshops" in March 2026.
Two sessions were held in Taipei and Hsinchu, including a general session and an industry-specific session for the semiconductor sector. The workshops attracted more than 200 representatives from TWSE- and TPEx-listed companies and received highly positive feedback.
The program featured diverse and practical content. In response to participants’ feedback, the workshops were extended from one day to two days, enabling attendees to gain a more comprehensive understanding of relevant frameworks and operational procedures. In addition to covering carbon reduction strategies and practical approaches to Scope 3 GHG inventories, the program also explained the linkage between GHG inventories and the Reference Guidelines for Sustainable Economic Activities, helping companies prepare for the Green Securities Certification Program scheduled for launch in 2026.
The training focused on two key themes: the Green Securities Certification Program and the practical implementation of Scope 3 GHG inventories. Experts from National Taipei University introduced the certification framework and the Sustainable Economic Activities Reference Guidelines, while specialists from the Taiwan Industry Service Foundation presented the Green Factory Label program and its review criteria. A lecturer from National Taipei University of Technology also explained the principles and calculation methodologies for Scope 3 emissions. Through case studies and hands-on exercises, participants were guided step by step in identifying emission sources, collecting relevant data, and calculating emissions, as well as formulating carbon reduction targets and strategies.
In addition, the semiconductor-focused session held in Hsinchu incorporated industry-specific discussions, including the application of the Sustainable Economic Activities Reference Guidelines to the semiconductor sector, key Scope 3 emission sources, and relevant quantification approaches. Case studies were also shared to demonstrate practical experience in GHG inventories and decarbonization within the industry.
In response to companies’ needs in carbon management and sustainability disclosure, the TWSE noted that additional workshops will continue to be held in Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, and Kaohsiung in the second half of 2026, and companies are encouraged to actively participate.
To further expand the reach of the program, the TWSE will also compile selected course content into video materials and upload them to relevant websites such as the ESG InfoHub (https://esg.twse.com.tw/ESG/front) and the IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Alignment section (https://isds.tpex.org.tw/IFRS/front/#/main/home), making them available for all TWSE- and TPEx-listed companies to access at any time and helping them strengthen their sustainability competitiveness.
