TWSE and TIP participated in the 18th S&P DJI ETF Conference in Tokyo to expand cross-border business opportunities
Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) participated in the 18th S&P DJI Japan ETF Conference in Tokyo on June 2–3. Invited as a panelist, TWSE, together with Taiwan Index Plus Corporation (TIP), also hosted an exhibition booth at the venue to showcase the achievements and growth of Taiwan’s ETF market to the international investment community. During the visit, TWSE also met with exchanges and leading local asset management firms to strengthen international collaboration and explore future opportunities for cross-border ETF and index-related product development.
At this year’s conference, TWSE was invited to participate in the panel discussion titled “Connected Markets: How Global Exchanges Are Upgrading Efficiency and Access.” During the session, TWSE shared the recent achievements of Taiwan’s ETF market as well as its experience in enhancing market infrastructure and operational efficiency.
Taiwan’s ETF market has experienced remarkable growth in recent years. The number of ETF beneficiary owners increased from approximately 1.68 million at the end of 2020 to around 18.55 million by the end of April 2026, representing an increase of more than elevenfold and reflecting strong investor participation in the ETF market. To support the expanding scale of the ETF market, TWSE has continued to enhance its market infrastructure. These efforts include upgrading the ETF creation and redemption platform used by issuers and securities firms to facilitate faster information exchange among market participants and provide more comprehensive information services, thereby fostering a robust and diversified ETF ecosystem.
TWSE stated that it will continue to promote cross border products with domestic and foreign issuers, further raising the profile and influence of Taiwan’s ETF market. Working closely with ETF issuers, TWSE aims to build a more international ETF ecosystem in the region to support the government’s initiative to develop Taiwan into an Asian Asset Management Center.
